Luang Prabang, Songkran and soul
12 -26 April 2008

Experience the sights and sounds of colourful Hanoi, Vietnam, as we enjoy a peaceful stopover on our way to Luang Prabang, Laos, proclaimed by UNESCO as ‘the best preserved city in South-East Asia.  We will arrive in time to celebrate Songkran (water festival).  There will be an opportunity to participate in an easy day trek.  We will travel by bus to Vientiane via Vang Vieng.  From Vientiane we will fly into Phnom Penh, Cambodia, where we will begin our house building experience with Tabitha – building a house for a desperately poor family, chosen by their own people as being the most in need.  While in Phnom Penh, we will visit NGO’s that are doing wonderful work in the areas of health and education. From Phnom Penh we will fly back into Vietnam, visiting Ho Chi Min City, where we will stay before our return to Sydney.  Places for this trip are strictly limited to 10 and the itinerary is still in draft form.   Approximate tour cost AUD$3300, single supplement extra.  Price includes: all breakfasts, accommodation 3 star, international and internal flights and transport, contribution to house building costs.  For further information and a draft itinerary, please contact dianne.gamage@mn.catholic.edu.au

The tour cots is $US 2100 (twin share), single supplement is US$300, inclusive of 3 star accommodation, all travel in China, entry fees and two meals daily (usually breakfast and lunch)/person.  The tour price excludes airfares to and from Hong Kong, and Hong Kong accommodation.  Cost is subject to change on confirmation, depending on the total number of travellers.  There is also a small payment for tipping (group tips).  Depart the first Saturday of the July school holidays, and return on Sunday in time for school, tired, yet exhilarated.  For further information and a draft itinerary, contact Vana Ford  gvford@nobbys.net.au  0414798796, 65871135 (school)
